REVIEW: Urethral Defecation – High Human Feelings

Urethral Defecation - High Human FeelingsUrethral Defecation
High Human Feelings
(Ghastly Music, 2013)
Genre: Brutal Death Metal

Hello Sir, do you have some time to talk about our lord and saviour SLAM? Yes I do.

Especially if it’s presented in such a nice package. “High Human Feeling” is kicking off the album with so much aggression and style that I actually had to smile at some parts because they were badass as hell! But I guess that’s what you have to expect if shit comes out of fucking Siberia.

This is slam with a nice production and a lot of groove and punch and some ugly as fuck breakdowns that are so slow that even your retarded uncle would be faster. The guitars come with some heavy attack and a very very djent-y sound but the production is great and feels professional and major. The bass is basicly not existing as a seperate unit and more of a “I think it’s there” thing. The drums sound really good and I’m not a 100% sure if this is a drum machine or just a really great mix of real drums. When it comes to the vocals this album is really a matter of taste. I know that there are a lot of people out there who will not like how they came out but there will be people who like them for how unusual they are. A good production and sound are a must in this time of home-producing and affordable professional mixing and they didn’t fuck that up so thats a plus. Productionwise there is nothing wrong with this release and the sound is a pleasure for every heavy-slam fan.

The riffing is sick and exactly what you would expect from a slam release from a band with the name URETHRAL DEFECATION – but then there are those passages that just come out of nothing, kick you in the nuts and then run away and you never see them again. For example: A really heavy slam riff kicks in and you’re just making that “not bad” face and then suddenly – Djent part, just for a few seconds but you just know it instantly and you feel like somehow hit you on the nose for making that stupid “not bad” face. That’s actually the aspect of the album that make it somehow unique and out of the ordinary – and thats great. The slam genre is just overfilled with so many new bands that all play the same stuff that it’s refreshing to have an album that just says “fuck you, I’m gonna slap your balls and call you lady names“. Even the samples are just a giant “WTF”. Either they’re in Russian or just fucked up. Besides that this is more or less a very typical slam release and has the typical charasteristics and therefor I think it´s useless to tell you how a typical slam release sounds.

With 11 Songs in 34 Minutes this is an average lenght-release with some awesome riffs and slams. And there is one special thing – some of the song titles. Even if you’re not into that kind of music you should at least do yourself a favour and read them. It´s worth it, believe me. A solid release out of the probably coldest place on earth with lots of humor and fun and choclate…. That was a lie, there is no choclate, but you should check it out. It´s really fun at times and then really badass at other times. Nice.

My Score: 7.8/10

Song Recommendations:
