REVIEW: Putrid Pile – Blood Fetish

Putrid Pile
Blood Fetish
(Sevared Records, 2012)
Genre: Brutal Death Metal

In a few words, this album is a true feast for the ears. Unless – of course – you are a great pussy-ass metal fan. In this case, I sincerely recommend you to stay far away from this nice piece of brutality. The sick-fuck retarded responsible for this atrocity, Mr. Shaun LaCanne (vox, guitars, bass, drum programming), coined a perfect definition for your own work: “sick-ass drum machine band with pounding slam riffs and deep guttural vocals”.

Who am I to disagree with him? Indeed, so-soon you start playing this CD, piles of brutal riffs will flow as incandescent magna from your speakers. Reinforcing the sound of guitars, Mr. Shaun provided the drum machine programming more interesting and functional I’ve seen in a BDM album, reason at any time you feel the lack of a man of flesh and blood commanding the drumsticks. The vocalizations are the most atrocious possible. Sometimes pending for deep gutturals, sometimes for pig squeals that many people find annoying (I love it!).

The production is absolutely phenomenal, providing a fat and impactful sound for all instruments, especially guitar and drums. The music dynamism is a constant throughout the 33-minute hearing. All tracks are excellent and are equal in technique and brutality. But I have my favorites: Blood Fetish, Face-Pounding Madness, Tortured Soul, Operation Splatterhouse (awesome sick!!! \,,/) and Perpetual Bloodlust.

One of the reasons why I got hooked on this CD is the fact that it reminds us that BDM – despite being a hostile, bloody, perverse and anti-commercial musical style – is a form of entertainment. And fun is what you get with this album, that at no time becomes tiresome, even after repeated listenings. In short: a masterpiece of good taste and mandatory hearing.
